Ukrainian side UD won the M40 category crown in Porec’16 after winning a thrilling final game against defending champions Small Planet from Lithuania. The Ukrainians led for most of the game, but it was an excellent fourth quarter that sealed the deal for UD, who triumphed 68-50 after winning the final period 14-0.
Dmytro Briantsev led the winners in scoring with 18 points and six rebounds, while Leonid Iailo added 11 points. Meanwhile, Egidijus Mikalajunas had 23 points and 11 rebounds for Small Planet.
UD’s player Volodymyr Gutovvy received the MVP honors of the M40 age group.
In the third-place game, Legion from Moscow topped Istra Porec 73-50. The Russian side led comfortably throughout the whole game and left no doubts when it comes to the fourth period.
Sergey Bezrodnov led all scorers with 22 points, Dmitry Kharchenkov chipped in with 16 for Legion, while Semil Sijamhodzic had 21 points and seven rebounds for Istra Porec.
