Best of Havirov win W40 group, Augma triumph in W45

Best of Havirov from Czech Republic and Augma from Lithuania became the first teams to claim gold in women categories of Poreč’16. Best of Havirov lifted the W40 trophy, while Augma celebrated gold in W45.

The Czech side defeated Carpathian Bears in the final game after a relatively close game, outlasting the Ukrainian team 66-54. The sides had met previously and for the second time in a row, it was Best of Havirov who came out on top after a relatively close battle.

Jana Hradilova scored a game-high 24 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out seven assists, while recording five steals for the winners. Sona Simkova added 20 points and five rebounds in a winning effort.

Hradilova was named the MVP of the age category.

For the Ukrainian side, Alla Kyrychenko was the only player in double figures with 12 points and five rebounds.

Radviliskis from Lithuania finished with bronze medals in the W40 age category.

Augma from Lithuania also competed in this age category, but claimed the W45 crown on the merit of being the only team in the age group.Even competing against younger teams, Augma managed to earn one win in three games.

Asta Siksniene received the MVP award for the M55 age category.
