Registration for ESBA Championship in Poreč now open

The registration process for the European Championship for Seniors has begun and teams that want to participate in the 2nd ESBA Championship in the Croatian seaside resort Poreč can now do that at the official website of the event.

The championship will take place on June 11-18 at the Žatika Sport Center and the Veli Jože Sports and Recreation Center. There are six planned age categories for women (W30, W35, W40, W45, W50, W55, W60) and eight for men – M40, M45, M50, M55, M60, M65, M70, M75.

The main venue of the event, the Žatika Sport Center was constructed for the 2009 World Men’s Handball Championship and has a total seating capacity of around 3,700.

Located in the beautiful Istria region of Croatia, Poreč is an excellent destination not only because of its top-class facilities, but also excellent scenery, beautiful beaches and many other pleasures that the Adriatic Sea provides.

Poreč is almost 2,000 years old and is set around a harbor protected from the sea by the small island of Saint Nicholas. The town’s population is around 20,000. It increases to around 100,000 during high season.

Its major landmark is the 6th century Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Ever since the 1970s, the coast ofPoreč has been among the most visited tourist destinations in Croatia.
