The “Baltic Cup 2024″ organizers organized the closing of the tournament in the banquet hall of the beautiful Jaunmoku Castle. The closing and award ceremony of the tournament was elevated to the level of stars by the honored guests of the evening, professional basketball players brothers Igors and Raimonds Miglinieks and the host of the evening, actor Janis Amanis. Igoris, who has just celebrated his 60th birthday, is an Olympic champion who together with Sabonis, Kurtinaitis, Chomičius and Marčiulionis won the gold at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. His younger brother Raimonds distinguished himself in the Latvian national team, when together with Bagatskis, Stelmahers and Helmanis, he managed to defeat the Lithuanian national team for the first time in an official competition (2001 European Championship in Turkey). Well, it was really news for me – the host of the evening, Janis Amanis, is the main character of the 2013 Latvian film “Dream Team 1935″ about Latvian basketball players, the first European basketball champions, who played the role of Latvian national team coach Valdemars Baumanis in the film.
