GIRO Named Official Mobility Partner of the ESBA MaxiBasket Championship Albufeira 2026
The ESBA MaxiBasket Championship Albufeira 2026 is proud to announce GIRO, Albufeira’s municipal public transport network, as the Official Mobility Partner of the event.
This partnership, developed with the support of the Municipality of Albufeira, will allow all accredited participants to travel free of charge on GIRO bus services throughout the championship, making it easier to move around the city during their stay.
Taking place from 13 to 21 June 2026, the ESBA MaxiBasket Championship Albufeira 2026 will welcome more than 200 players, officials and accompanying guests from across the world, bringing together teams from Europe and overseas for one of the most important international maxibasketball events on the annual calendar.
The championship programme includes eight days of competition, social activities and cultural experiences, offering participants the opportunity to enjoy both high-quality basketball and the unique hospitality of the Algarve.
Through this collaboration, participants will be able to travel conveniently between hotels, competition venues and other key locations across Albufeira while reducing the need for private transportation. The initiative enhances the overall event experience and supports more sustainable mobility throughout the championship.
The Sports Living Association, local organiser of the event, welcomes this partnership as another important step in ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all participants. The initiative also reflects the commitment of the Municipality of Albufeira to supporting international sporting events and promoting sustainable mobility solutions for visitors.
