It is placed right after the Palacio De Deportes De Santander (main venue of the Championship), a space whose creation\u00a0has led to the total regeneration\u00a0of a marshland. Fruit of a great\u00a0project that will affect the whole\u00a0valley, this park currently open\u00a0to the public extends from the Palacio to the Arenas\u00a0Bridge, at the foot of the campus\u00a0of the University of Cantabria,\u00a0which is widely improved thanks\u00a0to the facilities of the park.<\/p>\n

This 11-hectare park has a\u00a0central area with a shallow water\u00a0sheet and a reedbed crossed\u00a0by several footbridges. Every\u00a0footbridge has the name of an\u00a0ocean liner, including the one\u00a0that does not reach the other\u00a0side, called \u2018Titanic\u2019.\u00a0Moreover, this park boasts\u00a0an amphitheatre<\/strong> and some of\u00a0the remains of the 19th-century\u00a0ancient piers, discovered during\u00a0the remodelling works of the car\u00a0park at Alfonso XIII Square and\u00a0moved here afterwards.\u00a0But what certainly\u00a0characterizes this park, whose\u00a0silhouette seen from the air\u00a0represents the countries\u00a0surrounding the Atlantic\u00a0Ocean, is the large number of\u00a0tree species from Cantabria\u00a0and from both sides of the\u00a0\u2018Pond\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Atlantic Park of Las\u00a0Llamas also comprises three\u00a0car parks, a caf\u00e9-restaurant\u00a0and a 2.5 km cycle lane, apart\u00a0from the building of Escenario\u00a0Santander, which hosts\u00a0concerts and rehearsal rooms for\u00a0local bands.<\/p>\n
