The European Seniors Basketball Association Promo Championship got under way on Saturday afternoon, as teams flocked in to the Liepaja Olympic Center for team registration and the issuing of ESBA player licenses.
A total of eighteen teams from four different countries – Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Russia gathered to the Latvian seaside for a week-long basketball celebration, which will include a variety of activities both on and off the court.
The basketball tournament will tip off on Saturday evening as well, with the tournament hosts Kraukli from Liepaja welcoming Project 44 from Moscow in the M40/45 age category.
Other teams will join the action on Sunday morning in all three courts of the Liepaja Olympic Center. The day will also feature the opening ceremony, the three-point contest and a friendly games between the a select team of delegates and former Lithuanian stars.
