
Don’t be surprised if you happen to see a familiar face or two walking down the streets of Liepaja in the ESBA Promo Championship. Among the participants, there will be plenty of well-known basketball personalities, including Olympic and EuroBasket medalists.
Standing out from the rest is the M45+ age category, with the three-time Olympic bronze medal winner and EuroBasket 1995 runner-up Gintaras Einikis headlining the list. The titled center, who has enjoyed a long and successful career, will represent Project 44 from Moscow.
In the same age category, 1992 Olympic bronze medalist Romanas Brazdauskis and 1996 Olympic bronze medal winner Darius Lukminas, who also won silver in EuroBasket 1995 will team up under the name of Patvanka.
The well-respected former referee and FIBA Golden Whistle recipient Romualdas Brazauskas, who has refereed in four Olympic Games, four World Championships and five EuroBaskets will play for Perlas in the M50+ age group alongside the likes of Virginijus Jankauskas and Arunas Grigas.
Arriving to Latvia from Saint Petersburg, Raviollo from the M50+ age category will feature Aleksei Ugriumov, Andrei Bondarenko and Vladmir Kuleshov. Meanwhile, playing at the M55+ age category, the trio Vytenis Urba, Rolandas Penikas and Arunas Sarka will make up the core of the Salilta.
Even more stars are going to appear in the ESBA Promo Championship in the exhibition game featuring a team of former Lithuanian stars.
