{"id":1,"date":"2018-01-15T18:43:50","date_gmt":"2018-01-15T18:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/esba-basket.com\/baltic-cup-2018\/?p=1"},"modified":"2018-05-09T11:38:49","modified_gmt":"2018-05-09T11:38:49","slug":"welcome-to-baltic-cup-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esba-basket.com\/baltic-cup-2018\/welcome-to-baltic-cup-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to Baltic Cup 2018!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After thre editions of the\u00a0<strong>Baltic Cup<\/strong>\u00a0in three Baltic countries,\u00a0<strong>Baltic Cup 2018<\/strong> is back\u00a0 in Estonia.<\/p>\n<p>The competition brings together the best veterans\u2019 basketball teams from\u00a0<strong>Estonia<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Latvia\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Lithuania<\/strong>, who compete for the Baltic Cup in different age and gender categories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In 2018, the tournament will be held in Saaremaa on 25-26 May.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The right to participate in Baltic Cup 2018 belongs to the national champions of the three Baltic countries in the 2017-18 season. If a champion waives its rights to participate, the rights are then awarded to the runners-up.<\/p>\n<p>Like last year\u2019s tournament will be the\u00a0<strong>wildcard*<\/strong>\u00a0system, which provides a possibility for teams from other countries to participate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Baltic Cup 2018 will have the following age groups:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Men\u2019s 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70<\/li>\n<li>Women 35, 40, 45, 50, 55<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competition format:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At least 2 teams have to apply in each age category, with a maximum of 4.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4-team format: Teams are playing Semi-Finals and the Finals:\n<ul>\n<li>Pair I of Semi-Final: Latvia vs Lithuania<\/li>\n<li>Pair II of Semi-Final: Estonia\u00a0vs *wild card;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>3-team format: Teams play each other. Guests play in two days (one game per day), host team plays two games per day;<\/li>\n<li>2-team format: Teams play each other (4\u00d78 min) twice or only one full time game (by mutual agreement of parties)<br \/>\n* in case of non-defined situations, Estonian Organizer has rights to choose a competition format.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Game system:<\/strong>\u00a04*8 min, FIBA rules.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prizes:<\/strong>\u00a0In each age group, the winner will be awarded with the Baltic Cup trophy, as well as special awards organized by the tournament sponsor.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>Who can qualify for a *<strong>wildcard<\/strong>?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>1) Teams from Finland as\u00a0partners 2018;<br \/>\n<\/em><em>2) If there are no teams from Finland, the teams from any country are acceptable;<br \/>\n<\/em><em>3) If there are no candidates from other countries, a second team from the host country is acceptable;<br \/>\n<\/em><em>4) If any of the teams from Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania refuses to participate, an additional wildcard will be available.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After thre editions of the\u00a0Baltic Cup\u00a0in three Baltic countries,\u00a0Baltic Cup 2018 is back\u00a0 in Estonia.
