In the first day of the men’s competition, the game of the round in the M50 age category was between the Latvian team from Tukums and their opponents Wombat, with the Estonians taking out the game 55:48. Ott Poldsaar picked up 23 points for the victors, with Saulius Ragauskas adding 15 for Tukums. The Estonians collected 10 more rebounds than the Latvians on their way to victory.
In the other game, Patvanka outclassed Carpathian Bears 74:42. Arvydas Venclovas hit 27 points with machine-like precision leading the Lithuanians to their victory against the Ukrainians who’d only brought a 5-man roster. Left-hander Oleksandr Zakrevskyi scored 22 for the latter.
In a tight finish in the M70 age group, Neptunieciai emerged victors 46:44 against Vilniaus Statybos Senjorai. The game was close all the way with Jonas Lukosius and his 18 points carrying the team from Klaipeda to a great win, with 21 points from Romas Ramanauskas not being enough to save the game for the masters from the capital.
Tukums had all the answers in the final quarter in the second game, taking out the game against Zalgiris 46:37. Aivars Dzenitis was in fine form for the Latvians with his 27 points being the difference between the teams. Rimantas Milaknis added 24 points for the locals.
