Poreč to host ESBA Championship 2016

The Croatian seaside town of Poreč was announced as the host of the next ESBA Championship. The resort will host the tournament in the summer of 2016.

The championship will take place on June 11-18 at the Žatika Sport Centre. There are six planned age categories for women (W35, W40, W45, W50, W55, W60) and eight for men – M40, M45, M50, M55, M60, M65, M70, M75.

Poreč is almost 2,000 years old and is set around a harbor protected from the sea by the small island of Saint Nicholas. The town’s population is around 20,000. It increases to around 100,000 during high season.

Its major landmark is the 6th century Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Ever since the 1970s, the coast of Poreč has been the most visited tourist destination in Croatia.
