ESBA signs cooperation agreement with the Lithuanian Sports University

LSU ir ESBA sutartis nr.1The European Seniors Basketball Association (ESBA) has reached a cooperation agreement with the Lithuanian Sports University (LSU).

ESBA and LSU will seek to spread the healthy way of life, sportive longevity and help improve the physical and sport capabilities of seniors all around Europe. Partners will carry out collective scientific research, exchange information and administer scientific–practical conferences, seminars and sports competitions.

According to the Director of the ESBA, Inese Mikelsone, “Our Association aims to knit the European seniors’ basketball together, since until now it hasn’t had a well-structured body. Seniors basketball is very active in the Baltic region, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, also in Ukraine and Russia, alongside many other countries, so we plan on holding numerous international competitions and seminars. We are still in the process of building our structure, therefore this cooperation with LSU is of extremely great importance to us. The scientists of the university have amassed a great deal of experience and the Association is enticed all together by the methodical assistance, the seminars and the managerial experience.

The vice-chancellor of LSU’s sport and infrastructure, Prof. Dr. Aleksas Stanislovaitis, claimed that “The scientists of the university have taken an interest in seniors’ basketball years ago and this was a perfect opportunity for them, the lecturers and coaches to work with seniors hands-on, deepening the specialists’ knowledge of longevity and wellness. The benefits of this cooperation will undoubtedly be mutual.

This agreement opens up many new doors, as LSU is part of numerous international cooperation and research projects, including:
