Day 2: Lithuania take care of business against Estonia

After playing against Latvian teams on Saturday morning, the hosts Estonians were on the court in Parnu at the Baltic Cup 2015 once again in the afternoon to settle the score with the strongest teams from Lithuania. Lithuania won five of the six match-ups and celebrated victories won the Baltic Cup trophies in five age categories.

Game round-ups

Kalev became the M60 age category winners in the Baltic Cup 2015, after defeating KTU-Saitas 46-37. It was the only game in the group, since Latvia did not delegate a team. Igor Orlov had 21 points for the winners with eight rebounds to his name as well. Meanwhile, Algis Kazilionis was the only scorer in double figures for the Lithuanian team with 16 points.

In the M65 age category, Vilniaus Statybos Senjorai got their second win and also secured the trophy of their age group. The Lithuanians beat Sameko 57-21 in a blow-out game, as Rimvydas Aukstuolis paced the winners with 10 points. Ilmar Kutt was the leading scorer of the game with 11 points for Sameko, but it proved to change little.

Salilita won the M55 crown after earning a 63-51 victory against TOP Trust. Vladas Luksa led all scorers with 20 points, with Steponas Jokubauskas adding 18 points. Peeter Grunthal had 11 points for TOP Trust.

Heavy M40 age category favorites Alkajas-Dastra completed the task they began the day before by claiming a 50-42 win against Setu Sauna Selts, who suffered their second defeat today. Virginijus Sirvydis was the central figure for the Lithuanians, finishing with 18 points. Rolandas Matulis added 10 points and nine rebounds. Egon Viik collected 15 points and seven boards for the hosts.

Patvanka continued a good night for Lithuania with an 82-55 win against Wombat to clinch the top spot in the M50 group. Arvydas Venclovas scored a game-high 31 points for the winners, Peedu Pedaru collected 21 for Wombat, who finished second.

In the last game of the day, Pakruojo Parketas from the M45 gorup won the fifth age category for Lithuania, downing Parnu 84-41. Arunas Seferis had a game-high 33 points for the winners after hitting 9-of-13 from beyond the arc. He also added six assists for a total efficiency ranking of 38. No Parnu players were in double digits, with Tarvo Kumel collecting a team-high nine points.
